Comprehensive Orthodontic Treatment
Let me first make very clear (to avoid any possible confusion), that I am a General Dentist, not an Orthodontist. We are a full-service dental office, and as part of that range of services, besides our 6MonthSmiles Cosmetic Braces for Adults, we also offer Comprehensive Braces for teenagers or for adults with more complex orthodontic situations.
As this is a newer service that we offer, I can't show you any of my own cases, but as you can see from the rest of our website, once I have them, they will definitely be up here. I'll be posting some cases on my Smiles by Payet Dentistry Blog over the coming years, so you will be able to see the dramatic changes that we can make for your pre-teen or teen.
The Tip-Edge Braces System
We are sometimes asked if there is anything we do that is "different" from orthodontists; the simple answer is "NO." We use tried-and-true principles of orthodontics, just like they do. We offer both clear or the regular metal brackets, although most of the time we use metal brackets, just like they do. We use the same kind of case analysis they do, to make sure we plan for the right course of treatment. The type of bracket we use is called "Tip-Edge." There are a number of reasons I chose this system over many of the others out there, i.e. Damon, Damon II, Straight-Wire, etc., but the main reason is that these patented brackets offer a number of features that allow me greater control over the movement of the teeth, and those features are not found in the others.
Do We Extract Teeth for Braces?
Great question! Most of the time, we do everything we can to avoid extracting teeth to make room for the rest of them. However, there are times it is unavoidable.
How Expensive Are Tip-Edge Braces?
We're quite competitive with other orthodontic providers in the greater Charlotte Metro area. Especially in today's economic times, we understand that braces has to be affordable, so we offer a range of payment options. In general, our fees will range from $4500-5500. We do offer discounted rates if you have more than 1 child in treatment with us, or if you chose 6MonthSmiles for yourself.
How Long Does Treatment with Tip-Edge Braces Take?
As with the fees, we can't give you a definitive answer until we've met, gotten the appropriate x-rays and models, etc., I can tell you that the usual time is in the 18-24 months range. Some cases may take as little as 12 months, a few will take more than 2 years, but not too many. And one nice feature about this system, especially when school is in session -- your appointments will usually be 6 weeks apart, not 4 weeks. This means fewer times having to take your child out of school and that you may have to take off work.
