Dental Bonding

Dental bonding is a flexible cosmetic treatment that fixes various appearance issues. This quick procedure uses tooth-colored resin to repair chips, cracks, or discoloration, improving your smile's look.

Invisalign

Invisalign provides a subtle way to straighten teeth without traditional braces. These clear, removable aligners gradually improve your smile's alignment without metal brackets or wires.

Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers are custom-made shells that cover your teeth's front surface. They can greatly improve your smile by fixing color, alignment, or shape issues for a natural, bright look.

Smile Makeovers

A smile makeover is a complete approach to enhancing your smile. As the cosmetic dentist Charlotte, NC residents love, we customize a  plan that combines several cosmetic treatments to address all aspects of your smile's appearance.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is cosmetic dentistry and how can it improve my smile?

Cosmetic dentistry at Smiles By Payet Dentistry focuses on enhancing the appearance of your teeth, gums, and overall smile. It includes procedures such as teeth whitening, dental bonding, veneers, Invisalign, and full smile makeovers. While cosmetic treatments often improve aesthetics, many also provide functional benefits, like strengthening teeth or improving bite alignment. Cosmetic dentistry can boost confidence, help patients feel more comfortable smiling, and address issues such as discoloration, chipped or uneven teeth, gaps, and misalignment. Our cosmetic dentist in Charlotte, NC will evaluate your oral health first, ensuring that cosmetic procedures are safe and effective. Customized treatment plans take into account your goals, dental condition, and lifestyle, providing natural-looking results.

  • What are the most common cosmetic dentistry procedures?

Some of the most common cosmetic dentistry procedures include teeth whitening, dental bonding, porcelain veneers, Invisalign clear aligners, and smile makeovers. Teeth whitening brightens stained or discolored teeth, providing a quick and noticeable improvement. Dental bonding repairs chips, cracks, or gaps using tooth-colored resin. Porcelain veneers are custom-made shells that cover the front surface of teeth to improve color, shape, and alignment. Invisalign uses clear, removable aligners to straighten teeth discreetly, often replacing traditional braces for adults and teens. Smile makeovers combine multiple procedures to comprehensively enhance the appearance of your teeth. These treatments at Smiles By Payet Dentistry are tailored to your individual needs, oral health, and aesthetic goals, allowing you to achieve a more confident and radiant smile.

  • How do I know if I am a good candidate for cosmetic dentistry?

Most adults are candidates for cosmetic dentistry, but the best way to determine suitability is through a professional dental evaluation. Candidates should have generally healthy teeth and gums, as untreated decay or periodontal issues may need to be addressed before cosmetic procedures. Our cosmetic dentist in Charlotte, NC at Smiles By Payet Dentistry will assess your oral health, bite alignment, and aesthetic goals during a consultation. We may recommend procedures based on your needs, such as teeth whitening for discoloration or veneers for chipped or misaligned teeth. Your lifestyle and habits, including smoking and dietary factors, may influence results and long-term success. We'll create a personalized plan that considers both health and appearance, ensuring safe, effective, and natural-looking outcomes for every patient.

  • How long do cosmetic dentistry results last?

The longevity of cosmetic dentistry results depends on the specific treatment, oral hygiene, and lifestyle habits. Teeth whitening typically lasts several months to a year but can be maintained with touch-up treatments. Dental bonding can last three to 10 years, depending on care and habits like teeth grinding or chewing hard foods. Porcelain veneers often last 10 to 15 years with proper care. Invisalign and other orthodontic treatments provide permanent alignment improvements if retainers are worn as instructed. Maintaining good oral hygiene, attending regular dental checkups, avoiding excessive staining foods and drinks, and protecting your teeth from trauma or grinding all help extend the life of cosmetic treatments. Our cosmetic dentist in Charlotte, NC will provide guidance on maintaining and prolonging results for each procedure.

  • Is cosmetic dentistry safe for all ages?

Cosmetic dentistry is generally safe for most adults and older teens whose teeth and gums are fully developed. Before any cosmetic procedure, our dentist will evaluate oral health to ensure there are no untreated cavities, gum disease, or other issues that could interfere with treatment. Some procedures, like teeth whitening, may be more suitable for adults than young teens, while orthodontic treatments like Invisalign can be appropriate for both teens and adults. Our team will create a personalized plan tailored to your age, dental condition, and goals, ensuring that treatments are both effective and safe. Regular monitoring, proper oral hygiene, and following post-treatment instructions are key to maintaining results and preventing complications. Cosmetic dentistry here at Smiles By Payet Dentistry can be a safe way to enhance appearance, boost confidence, and support long-term dental health when supervised by a qualified professional.

As I discussed in my last post about Cosmetic Dentistry: Invisalign and a Dental Implant, you don’t always need teeth whitening or porcelain veneers to make a smile more beautiful, nor does it have super expensive, take a long time, or require drilling on your teeth. Sometimes, cosmetic dentistry can be as simple as fixing a gummy smile with laser gum therapy services. Gummy Smiles Don’t Need Veneers – They Need Less Gums! This is honestly one of my favorite kinds of cosmetic dental treatment, but it’s one that many dentists aren’t aware can be done so easily. I wrote about another one of our patients, who still comes in for her check-ups every 6 months like clockwork for the last 5 years), and her Cosmetic Gum Lift, back in 2009. She still can’t believe just how much of a difference it made, and this young lady now feels much the same way. To be completely honest, the change in Tiara’s smile could have been even bigger, but to do so would have required major jaw surgery, and that isn’t something she wanted. But she has been unhappy with her smile for so long, and it’s easy to understand why, right? So what we did is called a “Esthetic Crown Lengthening,” or in normal English, a “gum lift.” Basically, this involves using a laser to recontour the gums (remove the excess) up to the level they should be, and then to gently lift the gums to allow removal of the excess bone that was also covering her teeth. The second part isn’t always necessary, because there’s not always extra bone, but when there is, it’s easy-to-do and painless, because the bone has no nerve endings. A New Smile Fast This photo was taken just 10 days after Tiara’s Gum Lift Procedure, and look what a huge difference it made! She was just ecstatic and couldn’t stop thanking us and smiling. We all know that it’s still not perfect, but she’s not interested in the jaw surgery. But what it is, is a HUGE improvement, don’t you agree?
